Amelia, Romagnoli: “Our Festival, a little Spoleto”. Controversy with the municipality: “it does not give us a euro”

On Friday 23 September the 10th edition of Ameria Festival opens, the now historic festival of music, prose and cultural events of Amelia which has won a wide consideration at national level for the quality of the offer, the accuracy of the shows, the particular cultural module that characterizes its structure.

“This Festival has ambitious ideas – said the soul of the review Riccardo Romagnoli – to become a small Spoleto, we have articulated it on weekends, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with this festival we try to promote cultural and economic development dell’amerino, the most disadvantaged area in the province of Terni “.

In these ten years of life (from 2013 to today) the Festival has seen great performers of classical music alternate on the stage of the splendid Teatro Sociale such as Uto Ughi, Bruno Canino, Salvatore Accardo, famous orchestras such as those of Santa Cecilia and the Berliner Philharmoniker, military bands such as those of the Carabinieri and Finance, famous actors such as Gigi Proietti, Terence Hill, Paola Quattrini, Anna Marchesini, historical names of jazz such as Riccardo Pellegrino, Romano Mussolini, Lino Patruno, Fabrizio Bosso. Complete editions of the great operas of the opera repertoire were also presented, such as Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Verdi’s Rigoletto, Bizet’s Carmen, Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana.

This year a respectable program is on the bill, which, alongside famous pieces by classical authors (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart), presents some notable prose texts (De Filippo “These ghosts and Dostoevskij” The Karamazov crime “for the directed by Luigi Di Majo with non-professional actors, magistrates, lawyers, law scholars, journalists), a dance show and a festive evening of popular music, dedicated to the most beautiful melodies of the Italian tradition.

Among the novelties, a decisive opening to students who, thanks to an agreement with the school authority, at a symbolic price will be able to access the shows, replicated for them in the morning before the evening performances.

Another novelty is the agreement reached with economic operators who offer free tickets to the theater for those who stay in hotels or for those who stop to eat in restaurants. “It is a small thing – said Romagnoli – but it is something that increases the tourist flow and therefore gives wrong to that idiotic statement according to which culture does nothing”.

Romagnoli had a controversial hint against the municipality of Amelia: “for 6 years – he said – since this new administration has been in office we have no longer had a euro compared to the 25/30 thousand euro that were given to us by the previous administrations . Maybe it will depend on my character which is a bit edgy, maybe some way of thinking divides us, certainly not politics, but these resources that we have been lacking in recent years we organizers have had to shoulder ”.
