Earlier in the week, we already revealed to you that Chris Evans and his title of the sexiest man in 2022 had earned him some mockery from his colleagues in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (mcu). ‘Cause one thing’s for sure, when it comes to troll each other, the actors of marvel studios are not left out, as evidenced by the recent statement by charlie coxthe one who embodies Daredevil at Marvelre Andrew Garfield.
“the third best spider-man”
As the years go by and the phases follow one another, the big family that forms the MCU continues to grow. And it seems that the various actors playing superheroes on the big screen have a habit of trolling each other.. The relationship between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who respectively embody the characters of Deadpool and Wolverine, is the perfect example, the two actors regularly making headlines with the jokes they make mutually.
And more recently, it was Charlie Cox who got into it, the actor being known in particular for having embodied Daredevil first in the series of the same name, and which is now part of the MCU. In effect, At GQ Men of the Year, the British actor took to the stage to praise longtime friend Andrew Garfield, declaring that the latter was “one of the best actors of our generation, if not the best”. But Cox will also take the opportunity given him to throw some little humorous jabs, including calling him “the third best Spider-Man of all time.” He continued thus:
A few years ago I was chatting with a friend who lamented the seemingly limitless talents of our friend, and tonight’s Man of the Year, Mr. Andrew Garfield. I said, “It’s really boring, is there nothing he can’t do?”
The friend with whom Cox was talking at this time revealed to him that the only thing Garfield couldn’t do was singhaving apparently slaughtered the song “The Rhythm of Life” from the film Sweet Charity during an audition at drama school. Cox continued:
So you can imagine how thrilled we were when we learned that he had embarked on a project that could not succeed. […]”Tick, Tick… Boom!”.
A fun little poke, especially when you know that with his role as Jonathan Larson in the 2021 film, Garfield will receive the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy at this year’s Golden Globes ceremony. The title role of the diptych The Amazing Spider-Man will then go on stage in turn, thanking Cox for his words before declaring to the audience:
I’m terrified to stand here in front of a room of people I’ve admired for 20 years. I’m in a play with Ben Whishaw that I watched play Hamlet in drama school. I grew up watching the work of Louis Theroux. Stormzy, listening to “Heavy Is the Head” and crying in the gym. Thank you for including me in this amazing piece that I hope I never get used to.
