Turin Film Festival 2022: screenings and meetings for schools

Turin – On the occasion of 40th Turin Film Festival the National Cinema Museum presents the start of the project The School in the Front Rowinitiative carried out by National Cinema Museum of Turinin the context of National Plan of Cinema and Images for Schools promoted by MiC – Ministry of Culture and MI – Ministry of Education.

There Front row school will involve primary, 1st and 2nd grade secondary school classes in a series of free activities throughout the 2022/2023 school year: dedicated screenings of a selection of films from the Torino Film Festival (and from 2023 also of the CinemAmbiente Festivals and Lovers Film Festival); training activities for teachers and students, visits to the Museum, audiovisual literacy and civic education workshops and an invitation to produce a short film for the national competition CinemAmbiente JR.

All with a view to professional guidance and attention to technological innovation and contemporary cinema. The programme The School in Front Row-TFF it is an opportunity to offer students the opportunity to experience the Festival as protagonists, to learn about the different stages and professions of the cinematographic chain (producers, directors, actors) and to dialogue with experts on current issues. In fact, all the screenings will be followed by a moment of meeting and deepening with professionals of the sector.

The panel Metaverse. Cinema, storytelling and web 3.0 is dedicated to the latest frontiers of digital technologies: audiovisual experts and representatives of Italian and international companies in the sector will participate. The opportunities related to the world of the metaverse and its possible evolution in the educational field will be discussed with a particular focus on the new activities in the spaces created in the metaverse The Nemesis by Rai Cinema and the National Cinema Museum.

Screening of the short VR The rag doll by Andrea Olindo Bizzarri, written with Nicola Conversa (Italia 2022, 22′), a transmedia project on online solicitation produced by One More Pictures with Rai Cinema and, to follow, the panel Meeting on digital threats and opportunities with a protagonist of short. The short will be online from November 30 on the Rai Cinema Channel VR app available with a renewed version on the new generation Oculus Quest 2 viewers and in a smartphone version on Ios and Android. Coming soon. The last stage of this transmedia project is a podcast series in 5 episodes in collaboration with RaiPlay Sound.

VR projection of the two chapters of the project The Divine Comedy VR – Hell and Purgatory by Federico Basso (Italy 2022, 14′). An ETT production in association with West 46th Films soon available on Rai Cinema Channel VR. A work that offers the viewer innovative and highly immersive ways of enjoying the world imagined within one of the masterpieces of world literature and poetry, a symbol of our country’s linguistic-cultural identity.

This was followed by the panel The world of education and the new languages, between teaching and innovation.
