The exceptional bonus for the start of the school year in 2022

As part of a series of measures voted in the law on emergency measures for the protection of purchasing power and the amending finance law 2022it was decided that a exceptional back-to-school bonus will be paid on September 15, 2022 to the following people:

  • Those that affect social minima (for example: RSA, AAH, Aspa…), housing aid and for scholarship students : this bonus will be €100 per household (+ €50 per child).
  • Those who are above the social minima and who receive the activity bonus : an additional exceptional payment is planned for the start of the school year in addition to the 4% increase in the activity bonus already made on 1er July.

If you are eligible for this exceptional bonus, the payment will be made automatically by the organization on which your social minima depend (for example the Family allowance fund or Pôle Emploi).

The back-to-school allowance (Ars)

Accessible to all levels of schooling, the back-to-school allowance (Ars) is an aid paid by the CIF or the MSA. This financial aid allows families with at least one school-going child aged 6 to 18 years old (for the start of the 2022 school year, the child must be born between September 16, 2004 and December 31, 2016), to finance part of the expenses related to the start of the school year, such as the purchase of school supplies.

The Ars is conditioned to a resource cap varying according to the number of dependent children. For the start of the 2022 school year, these are your 2020 resources which serve as a reference:

2020 resource ceilings*, depending on the family situation on July 31, 2022

* Note that if your resources slightly exceed the ceilings, a differential back-to-school allowance may be paid to you. It is also calculated based on your income.
