While the 2022/2023 school year has not yet completed a term, the Ministry of National Education is already thinking about the start of the 2023/2024 school year. The Minister, Abdelhakim Belabed chaired this Thursday, November 24 a national conference devoted to the preparation of the next school year, in the presence of representatives of different ministerial departments.
“Today, we attach importance to all the aspects that will guarantee a successful return to school, through the search, now, for solutions to the problems and difficulties in the field expected and which can constitute obstacles to the good schooling of our children.Belabed said in his remarks.
The minister thinks in particular to the infrastructure problem whose solution will end or alleviate the class overload headache”. But also to material and financial resources for the management of schools, in particular with regard to canteens and student transport”.
During this preparatory conference “earlyof the 2023/2024 school year, several questions will be addressed, said the Minister of Education. In the first place : “a general and detailed inventorywill be established concerning the situation of all establishments across the wilayas.
Participants will also discussprivate education and the means of organizing it, supporting it and integrating it into the school map”, “the digitization of official housing“, as well as “the salary arrears of sector staff across all the wilayas, to close the financial year on time“.
Addressing the conditions for the back-to-school period this year, Belabed described it as “successful“, despite the difficulties encountered and the return to the normal education system, at the end of the Covid-19 crisis. “We have ensured a normal return of our students to classes, and succeeded in solving the problems posed, including the overload of classes“, did he declare.
The teaching of English introduced in primary this year, “is expected to extend from the start of the 2023/2024 school year, to the 4th year of primary school, and to the 5th year on the occasion of the 2024/2025 school year“, explained Belabed, thus devoting the end of the process of its introduction. The decision, as a reminder, was taken by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during a Council of Ministers.

Since the installation of the commission in charge of this dossier, 34 bilateral meetings have been organized with various unions representing all categories of education workers.
The agenda for Saturday’s meeting is “to present to the social partners, the conclusions of the Commission and all that has been retained, for the revision of this textBelabed said.
