Pays de Pontivy: an anonymous and free reception point for 12 to 25 year olds

It has been a year since the PAEJ of the country of Pontivy (Morbihan) exist. A year since the team Reception and listening point for young people makes contact with all the interlocutors and actors in the sector. One year later, the PAEJ is established on the territory and benefits froma room in the middle of the school district at Pontivyto receive young people from 12 to 25 years old, anonymously and free.

“This is the place of the first listening”

“It is a generalist welcome, for all ages, explains Erell Dugué, director of SeSam Bretagne (mutual support support service). It is aimed at young people, of course, but also at teachers, families (parents, grandparents, etc.) and loved ones (friends, couple, etc.) to guide them when a parent has difficulties with their teenager. It is a place of listening whatever the difficulty, whether it is at school or at the level of family relations, addictions…”

Depending on the nature of the difficulty, young people aged 12 to 25 are redirected to other services and actors present in the territory, such as psychological care, the Maison du département, social workers, nursing offices, wise men -women, pharmacies, doctors…

The PAEJ is the place of the first listening. This can be for a single interview or for several meetings, before the follow-up to another structure. And anonymization makes it possible to offer them a secure space.

A psychologist and an educator

At the PAEJ du pays de Pontivy, there are two professionals on site: Delphine Gicquel, clinical psychologist, and Élodie Kerambrun, specialist educator.

Our role is to detect the situation before specialized treatment.

“We are going to meet school nurses to disseminate this information to middle school students,” continues Delphine Gicquel. The work is in progress for the Pontivyan high school public, thanks to the establishment of weekly hotlines such as at Gros-Chêne, at Joseph-Loth…” Our major work is done on meetings with adults who are closest to young people : the school nurse redirects the young people, who come to see us”, explains the clinical psychologist.

The PAEJ team in the Pays de Pontivy will set up offices in the municipalities around Pontivy, as in Noyal-Pontivy after the school advances (at the Youth Department, rue des écoles).

It’s good to be mobile, the obstacles to mobility exist for young people and parents. We will have between 5 and 7 places of reception around Pontivy.

Go to sports volunteers

The team will develop its partnerships, in particular with other actors who are in direct contact with young people: sports volunteers, so that they can better identify our structure, see that we are there for young people from the age of 12. “An associative fabric which is very thick in the town of Pontivy, which sees teenagers passing through all week, and also associations very present in the surrounding municipalities…

In addition to the development of its presence, the PAEJ team continues its preventive actions (on consent for example) within establishments or by welcoming groups of vulnerable public to its new premises, “so that everyone puts a face on professionals, to be ever closer to them. ”

The Point of reception and listening of the young people (PAEJ) of the country of Pontivy is anonymous, confidential, free, without any administrative procedure to be made. It depends on SeSat Brittanyan association created in 1994 and which also manages PEPthem Parent Listening Points.

The PAEJ du pays de Pontivy was created to fill a gap in the central Breton territory, at the request of the Brittany region and of theRegional Health Agency (ARS), who are the funders with the Cafe du Morbihan and Pontivy Community.

In Brittany, there are 14 PAEJ (number increasing with the new establishments far from the big cities), managed by several associative actors. In 2021, they welcomed 3,894 young Bretons, for more than 11,000 interviews carried out.
