Ten autumns walking together

Few people from Vigo have doubts left: the colors and climate make autumn the perfect time to get to know our surroundings and also get to know ourselves and our neighbors, why not? How? Well, walking. And that is precisely what has been done in Vigo over the last ten years by the food distribution company Vegalsa-Eroski.

A decade of uninterrupted collaborationwhat is said soon, fulfills walking next to the town hall in the municipal program ‘Camiño a Camiño’.

This unavoidable appointment with our trails and landscapes returns every October to make thousands of Vigo people enjoy walking and breathing how much the natural heritage of the Olívica city and its neighboring councils have to offer.

So much to celebrate this Friday in the emblematic establishment of Self-service Family in the Mercado do Progresowhere the mayor of the city, Abel Caballero, and the CEO of Vegalsa-Eroski, Joaquín Gonzálezstarred in agreement renewal act of collaboration by which Vegalsa-Eroski will once again finance the eight environmental routes along the Senda de Greas that make up the joint initiative, allocating a total of 18,000 euros this 2022. They add to the investment of €150,000 provided by the company since 2012 to launch an initiative in which more than 13,000 people in all this time.

Not surprisingly, the link with the local and with Galicia is one of the great priorities of Vegalsa-Eroski, which wants to be present in the great Galician city at a social and environmental level, promoting care for the Environment and healthy habits; but also economic, through the generation of jobs and commercial activity, as highlighted this Friday by the CEO of Vegalsa-Eroski, Joaquín Gonzálezduring an act in which the Mayor of Vigo wanted to thank the company for its commitment to the Vigo City Council and in which the Councilor for the Environment and Healthy Life, Nuria Rodríguez, was also present.

Eight routes to choose from

Herds of horses, greas in Galician, give their name to what is one of the largest long-distance trails in Galicia: Senda de Greas, whose section between Vigozoo and San Esteban de Negros in Redondela will be in charge of inaugurating the season of routes of this fall. An appointment with the nature of Vigo that will take place next October 2nd and the perfect plan to whet your appetite for everything it will offer this year the program ”Camiño a Camiño”with guided visits to the mountains, forest parks and mountains of the region for weekends.

Thus the things, there will be until seven more environmental toursplanned for the days: October 9 (Moscoso-Sequeiros, Pazos de Borbén); October 16 (Galleiro-As Regadas, Mos); October 23 (O Confurco-O Pombal, O Porriño); 30th of October (Prado-San Antoniño, Gondomar); November 6th (To Fraga, Gondomar-Alto da Groba, Baiona) and November 13 (Chan da Lagoa, Baiona).

Likewise, this collaboration also includes the activities of urban gardens (Sardomela School-garden (Cabral), Fontáns School-garden (Lavadores), Ramón Nieto I School-garden, Pedro Alvarado School-garden (Teis), Navia School-garden and Camellias School-garden) and actions of environmental volunteering through Monte da Guía volunteering, dog accompanying volunteering and trail volunteering.

And it is that Vegalsa-Eroski firmly believes in the need to bet on healthy lifestyles and care for the environment, two firm pillars of its activity for which the company will also collaborate in the dissemination of the initiative Path to Path through its network of supermarkets in Vigo, placing promotional and support material for the aforementioned program.
