Nelsón Felipe Guerra Veitías, commercial specialist and lawyer by profession. “This Code covers many precepts and benefits to all families that, in our country, are diverse. In fact, it benefits children, adolescents, people with disabilities, grandparents who will now have a legal right to custody of their grandchildren if required. It is taken to a referendum for the first time, because a referendum had never been held with a document, so modern and inclusive, of this nature.

Clara Celia Almenteros Pérez, secretary of the Party Committee in Baluarte. “I have a genetic training in the subject of values because I take it from the example of my parents, I was educated in a school where the teachers were Ana Betacourt, then I opted, when I was young, for the cadet school and I was 25 in the FAR. My mother is a peasant from the Sierra Maestra. That’s why I have that commitment. Even in social networks I have had to face negative positions against the Family Code.

“Those who speak against it only show disgrace to the Revolution with their attitudes. This is a Code that legally defends everyone, in many matters that previously did not have that legal perspective. Examples of those who claim the right they have lost by refusing to protect a member of their family who was cared for and protected by someone who did everything for them, until the last moment. It happens that when the relative dies, the litigation of a relative who was never present appears. The brother who never cared. We have seen all of this.

“Whoever thinks to vote against does not take into account placing himself in the place of the other. He doesn’t know what can happen at any given time in his own family. Rights are acquired”.

Juan Antonio López Delgado, director of Baluarte. “The family code excites me. I come from a very humble family in the Mayabeque province, municipality of Madruga, a large family. Since the preliminary project analysis process began, I discovered that it is one of the fundamental premises that our town will have because all families will benefit from that code. Neither grandparents, nor people with disabilities, nor homeless boys or girls. They will always be protected because it is one of the greatest things the Revolution has done for our people.”
