Quality films almost all first run for the city of Messina, meetings with the authors and tributes to the masters of cinema. On Monday, January 9, the awaited Cineforum Orione Film Season starts again, an unmissable event for all lovers of quality cinema in Messina. Screening of the French comedy “The Happiness of Others” by Daniel Cohen, with Bérénice Bejo and Vincent Cassel. Screened at 16.30, 18.30 and 20.30, the film will also be repeated on Thursday 12, always at the same times, the day on which the 16.30 screening will be in the original language with Italian subtitles. All Season screenings will take place at Cinema Lux, hall managed on its own for almost a year by the Cineforum Orione, with a calendar of 30 titles, one a week from January to May and from September to November.

Underlines the president of the Cineforum Nino Genovese:

«With a pinch of emotion, but also with great pride and satisfaction – in the name and on behalf of the entire Steering Committee of the Cineforum Orione – I am pleased and honored to be able to announce the historic milestone of 60 years of uninterrupted activity of the association, which makes the Cineforum one of the oldest and longest-lived cinematographic realities in Italy, as attested by the ministerial recognition. As for the new program, it certainly lives up to our historical “tradition” and to the previous ones, with which it shares the aim of bringing the public closer to cinematographic culture, to the decoding of its specific language, to the presentation of “different” films, of high stylistic-expressive level, which, otherwise, would not be able to see, in many cases not even on television, or even in streaming, apart from the fact that a film must be seen in the designated place for which it was created, i.e. in a movie theater and on the big screen, when the lights go out and the moving images materialize on the white sheet, perpetuating a “miracle”, a dream that continues uninterruptedly from the birth of cinema to today».

«The 60th birthday of the Cineforum Orione coincides with the first candle of the management of the Cinema Lux, a hall that was renovated and reopened last February in the most difficult historical moment that the cinematographic exercise has ever experienced. Despite the enormous difficulties – some shared with the whole sector, others generated by the delays of the public administration in the disbursement of contributions for the restructuring – we experienced a truly gratifying year: we had almost 15,000 admissions, organized meetings with directors, hosted festivals and school projects, organized photography and poster exhibitions, premiered works of major importance to the public that the city’s commercial halls would not have screened (for example “Triangle of Sadness”, winner of the European Oscars), bringing back to life a fund of films and posters abandoned for decades in the warehouses of the Vittorio Emanuele Theater, carrying out a continuous and concrete cultural service and bringing Messina back not only to the routes of national arthouse cinema, but also internationally, with the annexation to the Europa Cinemas circuit. The 2023 season should allow us to continue on this path with more experience, but with the same enthusiasm».

The subscription campaign is underway. Ordinary season ticket for the entire cycle 60 euros; Juniors (14-25 years): €25; Seniors (over 70): € 50. Conventions are available (University of the Third Age, CRAL). Here is the link to join the association: https://cineforumdonorione.com/partecipa/.
