STOCKFISH FESTIVAL: EVERYTHING READY IN BADALUCCO FOR THE 50TH EDITION, PLANNED ON 17 AND 18 SEPTEMBER. “TRADITION AND NEWS. CONFERENCES, COOKING SHOWS, MUSIC AND TASTING”

September 17th and 18th come back on Badalucco Stockfish Festival with a program full of initiatives and experiences. The formula chosen for the 50th edition will join the tradition and entertainment from the past with some noveltieswith a view to growth for the event.

There first day Sara dedicated to meeting and culture. We will leave at 17.30 in piazza Umberto Eco with a conference: “Stories of Olives, Villages and Fjords“.

Stocafissu in Baücogna – 50 years on display”Will be the other big news of this edition of the Festival. The Art Gallery of Badalucco, in Piazza Duomo, will host an exhibition of all the posters of the festival: from the very first edition of 1972 to today, with a shot by photographer David Tinius Rossi. There will also be the works of Thor-Arne Moen, a famous Norwegian artist who fell in love with the ‘land of good living’ so much that he moved here. The inauguration will take place on Saturday, at 6.30pm. The exhibition will also be open to the public on Sunday.

The first day of the Festival will end with two distinct moments. The first is the gala dinner by invitation with the authorities of the province of Imperia and the Norwegian guestsi who after many years return to visit Badalucco. In particular, the Royal Norwegian Embassy will be present with Knut-Are Okstad (Minister Counselor – Royal Norwegian Embassy in Rome) as well as the Norwegian Seafood Council and Tørrfisk fra Lofoten AS.

The enhancement of the resources of the sea has always been a central element in Norwegian history and culture and the same can be said for Badalucco. This occasion not only strengthens the bond between two so distant territories but is perfect for sharing the expertise and craftsmanship of the Lofoten Islands with the intuition and ability of the Badalucchesi in using a versatile product with a unique taste in their culinary tradition. !” – he claims Olaf Johan PedersenCountry Manager Italy of Tørrfisk fra Lofoten AS.

The dinner will take place thanks to the service made available by the IIS E. Ruffini – D. Aicardi di Taggia. The students of the tourist address will take care of the welcome of the guests while the colleagues of the Hotel institute will offer a menu studied ad hoc for the occasion.

The second moment, scheduled at 9 pm, it will be in Piazza Marconi and will feature music with two groupsi: the Erbagrama and the Sharyband. An evening that anticipates the official opening of the Festival.

Sunday 18th September: It will be the day dedicated to the tasting of stockfish alla badalucchesand, distributed by the volunteers of the Pro Loco in four points of the country:

  • – Piazza Marconi (with music and entertainment until the evening);
  • – sports field (with entertainment and games for children);
  • – piazza U.Eco (with the music of the Berben duo);
  • – piazza G.Rodi (with the Uno Band).

The Festival will officially open with the inaugural ceremony. At 10 o’clock, will begin the parade in the streets of the town of the flag-wavers of Ventimiglia, accompanied by the Majorette Rivolese group and the Santa Cecilia band. The ribbon cutting with the authorities will take place at 11 in Piazza Marconie immediately afterwards the distribution of the stockfish will start.

In addition, from the morning there will be the craft stalls distributed in the center of Badalucco. At 10.30 there will be a guided tour of the town with Raffaella Asdente, starting from Piazza Duomo.

On Sunday afternoon, in Piazza Duomo, the public will be able to attend two important events. At 15.30, Cooking Show with chef Ivano Ricchebono: one Michelin star, Genoese and appointed by the Seafood Council for 2022, ambassador of Norwegian stockfish. The famous cook will use it ‘stokke’ of Lofoten preparing it with an original recipe that will enhance its quality and taste, combining it with the flavors of the Ligurian land and its culinary traditions.

At 16.30 the ceremony is scheduled for the attribution of the De.Co. (Municipal Designation of Origin) to two typical products of Badalucco: the sweet cake and naturally the ‘Stocafissu a Baücogna’. A title that certifies the only official traditional recipes of both dishes and therefore the use of those two names.

“For Badalucco it is the return of our beloved event – points out Mauro Panizzi, president of the Pro Loco, the organizing body – Let’s go back after a two-year stop, we want to experience this festival that attracts thousands of admirers of the real ‘Stocafissu a Baücogna’ to the village. We will do this by making available 3.5 quintals of stockfish and a team of 60 volunteers. We will be present with four stockfish distribution points and music throughout the country ”.

“The star of the day in Piazza Marconi will be Agostino Orsino. – continues Mauro Panizzi – IThe afternoon will be spent lightly with the comedy cabaret of “Colorado on the road” and the performance of the ‘Black Widow’, the dance group originally from the Riviera dei Fiori, who finished third in the final of the famous television program ‘Italia’s Got Talent’. In addition, the boys of Bandakadabra will return and offer a real traveling musical show in the streets of the village. And let’s not forget at 6 pm, the preview of the dancing evening which will start at 9 pm, with the Luca Canali orchestra show ”.
