GazteFilm Fest will celebrate its sixth edition between November 18 and 27. The children’s and youth film festival, organized by Zinhezba and Kalakalab, arrives with a “varied and stimulating” program aimed at younger audiences.
will offer about 40 activities between projections, workshops and concerts. All this after a careful selection of films among the more than 800 proposals received and many others discovered at different international festivals.
New this year, both festival weekends are aimed primarily at children under 12 years of age. In the words of Helena González, co-director of the festival, this change in the structure makes it possible, not only to “offer the most txikis a broader program and more opportunities to see it all. If not, it also makes it easier for us to work with younger audiences in a different way, continuous over time, establishing dialogues and experiences that allow us to design together a program that they like”.
The projections will be in the Civic Center of Zabalgana, Artium and for the first time, in the Civic Center of Salburua. In addition, schools will attend special sessions. There, students will be able to enjoy the competitive section of the festival.
With the aim of promoting the collaboration of txikis in the festival, “this year we have focused on generating a more active participation In all areas. For this, several workshops and activities have been organized that have either been carried out throughout the year, are being held now or will be carried out during GazteFilm Fest”, the organization points out.
Another of the surprises of the 2022 edition is the ‘Cuky Jury‘. This group made up of 16 children who will be in charge of watching all the competitive programs. They will choose the winning films of the ‘Best Feature Film’, ‘Best Short Film’ and ‘Best Film Made by Children of 2022’ awards.
The program includes a dubbing workshop, a workshop for the creation of rainbow carpetanother soundtrack creation course, a film acting workshop and an expanded film course.
The inauguration will offer a visual concert with the Professional Band of the Jesús Guridi Music Conservatorywhose visual part bears the stamp of Itziar Garaluce and her team of small visual artists.
In addition, the Kubik room will host on November 25 the concert of dumbboysalong with the screening of the short film program ‘Periferikoak’, aimed at young audiences.
Itineraries and Online Festival
For the fourth consecutive year, part of the Gasteiz Film Fest programming will be available online. Specifically on the Filmin platform from December 2 to 9. The objective is to be able to bring quality cinema closer to program at GazteFilm Fest to families the rest of the year.
As usual, during the month of December you can enjoy a selection of the festival’s competitive program in different towns in Álava, such as Zigoitia, Agurain and Llodio. This year, in addition, thanks to the collaboration with the Bitartean Jolasean de Oyón Association, GazteFilm Fest will reach five towns of Rioja Alavesa.
Tickets for the screenings will be priced at 3.50 euro and they can be purchased on the web or 30 minutes before at the venue of each screening.
