Turin Piedmont Film Commission at the Venice Film Festival with 6 films

From the debut film to independent cinema, from the beginnings to the reconfirmations of established authors of the international audiovisual panorama: there are 6 projects supported by the Turin Piedmont Film Commission present at the 79th Venice International Film Festival – to be held on the Lido from 31 August to 11 September 2022 – in various sections of the official program, of the Critics’ Week and the Days of the Authors.

A varied participation which once again confirms the vivacity of the Piedmontese sector and shows the results of the funds made available by the Film Commission Torino Piemonte and Regione Piemonte.


The Orizzonti – Extra section will in fact see the directorial debut of the young director and screenwriter Carolina Cavalli who, with “Amanda”, brings Benedetta Porcaroli to the big screen, together with Galatéa Bellugi, Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Michele Bravi. Entirely shot in Turin in autumn 2021, “Amanda” – produced by Elsinore Film with Wildside, a company of the Fremantle group and Tenderstories in collaboration with I Wonder Pictures – was developed with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte – Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund and subsequently produced with the contribution of the POR FESR Piemonte 2014-2020 – Action III.3c.1.2 – “Piemonte Film TV Fund” call.

The Fuori Concorso di Venezia 79 chooses to present the latest work by Enrico Ghezzi and Alessandro Gagliardo, “The last days of humanity”, produced by Matango in collaboration with Rai Cinema and produced with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte – Piemonte Doc Film Fund.

SIC – International Critics’ Week will close its programming with “Happy Birthday”, a short film by the Turin-based author Giorgio Ferrero, produced by Turin-based Mybosswas: the project stems from the feature film in development “White Days” – supported by Film Commission Torino Piemonte – Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund.

The young Turinese of Epica Film Alice Drago, Matteo Fresi and Federico Lagna have been selected to take part in the Biennale College Cinema – Virtual Reality with the short film “Mono” by Chiara Troisi, made with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte – Short Film Fund and developed as part of the Biennale College Cinema VR, 4th edition (2019/2020).

The 19th edition of Giornate degli Autori – Venice Days presented today chose to select 2 other projects made with Piedmontese funds: the feature film by Roberta Torre, “Le favolose” – a Stemal Entertainment production, Faber Produzioni with Rai Cinema, produced by Donatella Palermo, from a project developed with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte – Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund – will be presented at “Notti Veneziane”. Daniele Gaglianone will also return to the Lido, to present his latest documentary “If you are good” at Notti Veneziane: made together with Stefano Collizzolli, the film is produced by Samarcanda Film and Zalab and made with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte – Piemonte Doc Film Fund.
