The 2022 edition will therefore see the appointment renewed in the same location as last year
The sixth edition of the “Giuseppe Fasano” International Award – Grottaglie Città delle Ceramiche is starting. The appointment is set for Monday 19 September at the Tenute di Al Bano Carrisi in Cellino San Marco.
A few hours before the start, this 6th edition of the “Giuseppe Fasano” International Award – Grottaglie Città delle Ceramiche – can already be considered a success for many reasons. Last year, in fact, the “Prize”, which the organizer Giuseppe Fasano dedicates to his father Nicola, was held in the estate of the well-known artist Al Bano Carrisi in Cellino San Marco. It was a success of participation, but it was above all a success for the cultural and playful circuit that he managed to develop. Not a single moment is remembered when the numerous participants took their attention away from what was happening around them. The final comment was: “But is it already over?”, An expression that alone expresses the full satisfaction of those present at the event and that some thought should be a sporadic event.
But this is not the case because the first five editions have only written the debut chapter of an award that will certainly, year after year, be able to find in the dynamic promoter and organizer Giuseppe Fasano, an authentic “volcano”, the one who will be able to highlight the peculiarities of an artistic-cultural action initiated by his father Nicola and carried out by the direct descendants. The Fasano family, we recall, has handed down the art of ceramic processing since 1620, so it has passed the four hundredth year of life.
Anyone who has known Nicola Fasano during his life, who has already disappeared for a few years, speaks of him as a true artist, a true son of Grottaglia, and a true master on a double front. The first was that of transmitting ceramic art to his children and other ceramists, but he also wanted, and knew how, to dialogue with thousands of students not only from Grottaglia but from the whole Ionian province who asked to visit his laboratory to see how the amorphous clay which, magically, acquired forms and figures of great charm.
Those who met him in his historic workshop are happy to return today, not only because his son Giuseppe is the worthy continuer of the Fasano ceramic tradition, but also for that climate of great meditation that the site offers. Looking at the ovens and the archaeological remains of an area that defies the centuries, the hieratic figure of Nicola Fasano still seems to hover.
The “Giuseppe Fasano” Award, in line with its objectives, is characterized by the presence of people whose life and professional experience can be an inspiration and an example for the community.
The 2022 edition will therefore see the appointment renewed in the same location as last year, the Tenute di Al Bano Carrisi in Cellino San Marco. One hundred hectares that speak of him, of the bond that the singer has with the earth and with nature, of his family and artistic history. In the park of this house he himself designed, the artist has created spaces for himself, paths in the woods, ponds, hills like small hermitages for meditation. At Casa Carrisi horses roam free and to make the place unique there is also a hollow olive tree over 900 years old. The choice of location by the organization of the Award was not casual but also dictated by the decades-long friendship that binds Giuseppe Fasano to the master Albano.
The organizing committee of the “Giuseppe Fasano” International Prize is made up of maestro Albano, the organizer Giuseppe Fasano, and prof. Francesco Schittulli, the former commissioner and prefect Francesco Tagliente, the journalist Agata Battista and the princess Fabrizia Dentice di Frasso. For the rest we must add that this year, in addition to the awaited “laudatio” of prof. Francesco Lenoci entitled “Puglia is a beautiful and good state of mind …”, will see alternating on stage the performances of the band “Orchestra Mancina”, of the
singer Michele Cortese and the comic duo Boccasile & Maretti (Carlo Maretti and Max Boccasile).
Among the winners there will be personalities from the world of culture, business, commerce and society represented by the judiciary, the world of health care and volunteering; characters who, nationally and internationally, are writing an important page in our history.
Therefore, prizes and mentions will be awarded to the writer Catena Fiorello, to the Armani model Fabio Mancini, to the creator of Lolita Lobosco Gabriella Genisi, to the founder of ‘Ink of Puglia’ Michele Galgano, to the journalist and writer Pino Aprile, to the doctor-writer Roberto De Castro, the former colonel of the Ros Angelo Jannone and, again, the director of lo Jonio e Adriatico Pierangelo Putzolu, the director of Antenna Sud, Gianni Sebastio, the professor Nathalie de Kernier with her father, the ambassador Baudouin de la Kethulle , to entrepreneurs Roberto Burdi, Pietro Casamassima, Paolo Colombo, Giangrazio Di Rutigliano and Maria Grazia Campanile (Geopharma), to the writer Mina Micunco and to the president of Fasano Selva, Laura De Mola. Finally, an award will be given to the councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Taranto, Fabiano Marti.
The evening will be presented by the journalist, and the face of Telenorba, Maria Liuzzi. The organization wanted to thank the partners of the event: the companies Comes Sposi Couture by Vito Comes and Barbara Barbaro, Fedra Couture stylist, Barbara Screti make up artist and Diva Hairdressers.
