In the space of just a few weeks, the town center of Saint-Samson-la-Poterie (Oise) has totally changed with new amenities made in the middle of summer. In particular to secure the surroundings of the village school.
“The intersection between rue André Picard and rue des Potiers had become dangerous. During the bus stops, there was very little visibility, not to mention the frequent parking of cars on the sidewalks to pick up the children”explains Pascal Maillard, mayor of Saint-Samson-la-Poterie.
The village school named after former mayor Michel Lasnier
True heart of the village, the school of Saint-Samson-la-Poterie is experiencing some changes for the start of the 2022 school year. To meet digital challenges, the three classes of CP, CE1 and CE2 are now equipped with interactive whiteboards (IWB).
“These are innovative educational tools that allow teachers to write more quickly, but also to involve schoolchildren. And beyond these criteria, to save paper, because it is possible to project documents on the blackboard”, explains Pascal Maillard.
But the big change is the new name of the school. Or rather the first name because until now, this school which is part of the inter-municipal educational grouping with Campeaux, Héricourt-sur-Therain, Mureaumont and Canny-sur-Therain had no name. Friday, September 9 in the evening, with the teachers and staff, the municipal council unveiled the name of the school which will now be called by the name of the former mayor, from 1989 to 2008, Michel Lasnier.
A car park to drop off schoolchildren
With subsidies from the State and the Departmental Council, the asphalt has been completely redone rue André Picard with new signage for pedestrian crossings and bus stops. A roundabout was also created to facilitate the movement of motorists.
But the real novelty is the new car park in front of the town hall.
You have to imagine that for decades, there was a house. But the latter was in a state of peril. At the end of December, it was demolished. Beyond safety for all, because there was a risk of the house collapsing, this made it possible to widen the roadway and parents to park to wait for their children at entry and exit times.
“A picnic area will soon see the light of day”
A parking space that can also be used for funerals or weddings, the church being located below. If the car park is now open, the construction site is not completely finished.
Markings and lighting are not yet in place. Just as a picnic area will soon see the light of day on the sides to accommodate hikers for a break. Because you should know that we have three classified paths in the village.
In the coming years, the mayor of this village of around 250 inhabitants would also like to see the creation of a carpooling area in conjunction with the Departmental Council. Case to follow.
