School, to help parents from childhood, in Perugia pilot project

PERUGIA Early educational interventions and parenting education. These are the two cornerstones on which the school policy of the municipality aims to combat educational poverty. “This” poverty “is the only plague, according to the unanimous opinion of experts – says the deputy mayor and councilor with responsibility for school policies Gianluca Tuteri – to be eradicated in order to erase the bad guiding words (among other drugs, suicides, bullying , anxiety, depression…), which characterize the world of young people in the press ». Referring to the UN 2030 agenda, Tuteri underlined how much the Perugian administration is committed on these two fronts: “Perugia is paying great attention to nursery schools, we are first in Italy for the number of places in relation to the number of children, focusing on of quality with professionally valid educators, training, courses for pediatric resuscitation and cutting-edge educational programs (outdoor education), aimed at the family context with personalized individual projects. For parental education, a project will start shortly which provides for the taking in charge of the family, from the sixth month of pregnancy up to the third year of life of the unborn child, by multidisciplinary teams made up of professionals from the educational, health and social services ” . Said of the strategies, the conference at the beginning of the school year was also an opportunity to take stock of the services, obviously starting with the Educational services which concern 1,466 boys and girls who attend 51 accommodation facilities. The offer of the Municipality of Perugia for the educational year 2022/2023 is represented by 716 nurseries, distributed in 14 nurseries, of which 13 are directly managed (560) and 1 indirectly managed (40), a Center for children (16) and in “agreement” with authorized private nurseries (124). The manager Ilenia Filippetti highlighted, among other things, the “Outdoor Education” experience implemented at the Il Tiglio children’s center. Even with the aid of a film, the use of the natural space with little human presence as a true didactic classroom and natural laboratory to favor educational experiences for children was underlined. Personnel services area manager Roberta Migliarini recalled the quality of the school lunch service. Then the transport numbers (990 thousand kilometers to serve 1,823 students from 70 schools) and the increasing numbers relating to disabilities emerged. Currently assisted students (for a commitment of 1.6 million) are 1,080, constantly growing in recent years, especially those in need of assistance from an operator. The chapter on school buildings illustrated by the manager Monia Benincasa is important. The school plan is covering dozens of interventions on anti-seismic safety, fire prevention, functional adaptation and rationalization of the patrimono. “To make it clear how great the commitment of the Municipal Administration has been – said the mayor Andrea Romizi – from 2014 to today on about 100 schools existing on the territory of the Authority, 40 complexes have been intervened with works for a total amount of about 70 million euros. An enormous effort, an epochal commitment never seen before in which we firmly believed, considering it an absolute priority ».
