The new CEIP Saint Michael the Archangel de Soneja will open its doors for the start of the next academic year

The general director of Educational Infrastructures, Víctor Garcia, and the mayor of Soneja, Benjamín Escriche, together with the educational community of CEIP San Miguel Arcángel have verified the progress of the construction works of the new school in this municipality of El Alto Palancia, performance in which the Ministry of Education invests 4.7 million euros.
The works, managed by the City Council through the Edificant plan, include the demolition of the old school, built in 1958, and the construction of a new center adapted to the energy efficiency and sustainability needs of the 21st century.
The general director explained that “the new school will be finished in June and during the summer months all the equipment and transportation will be prepared for the students to open the new facilities in September, with the start of the 2023-2024 academic year.”
Along the same lines, the mayor has detailed that “the work is progressing at a good pace and we are happy with how the work is going, so we hope to see the new school finished in time so that the center can be operational for the start of the next grade”.
The new school will have a 2-year-old Infant classroom, three for 3- to 5-year-old Infants, and six for Primary; gym, kitchen and dining room for 180 diners in two shifts, and more than 2,500 m² of patios, sports courts, gardens and a school garden.

Features of the new school
The new school, which is built on a 4,512 m² plot, guarantees Soneja’s future schooling needs, since it will have 243 school places and adds a useful constructed area of about 2,721 m².
It has a structure of three blocks around a central patio that will be used as the children’s play area. From the access and services wing that rests on the street Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente The two wings of classrooms start off: the first, for Early Childhood Education, which is on one floor and will house the four Early Childhood classrooms, each with direct access to their own toilets and patios; On the other hand, in the second wing, with two floors and in a descending direction, adapting to the unevenness of the terrain, the six Primary classrooms, the multipurpose workshop and the computer room will be located.
The access and services block includes the library; the 146 m² dining room, and the 77 m² kitchen, with all the storage you need, as well as the center’s administrative spaces: concierge, secretariat, management, head of studies, faculty room, offices for the AMPA, etc. . It will also have a 160 m² gym with changing rooms and bathrooms.
The 2,509 m² of outdoor spaces at the center include a 1,081 m² sports court, a 306 m² patio for Infant students and another 718 m² for Primary, as well as a 107 m² school garden, and 148 m² of garden areas.
