Vilamoura International School raises thousands of euros for Algarve charities

Hundreds of families in need will enjoy a brighter Christmas thanks to the school’s initiatives.

In this year’s solidarity campaign, Vilamoura International School (CIV) supported six social solidarity institutions, a charity association and a solidarity project.

Nearly €7,000 was raised thanks to the school’s Christmas market and the food stands organized by different classes throughout the first school term. The proceeds went to three charitable causes – Refeitório Social de Quarteira, Centro de Apoio aos Sem-Abrigo (CASA – Albufeira)and The Big Hand Projecteach receiving checks for €2,500, €2,200 and €1,500 respectively.

The donations collected by the school community also enabled three families with disabilities (whose children need nappies and other hygiene products daily) to receive €250 each, or €750 in total. In addition to supporting these families, supported by Mãozinhas Solidarias CIV also sponsored 22 other children with gifts and necessities collected at its staff Christmas dinner.

During the Christmas Fair, foodstuffs were also collected and then delivered to Banco Solidario (a To exist project). These will be distributed among 464 citizens supported by the association in the municipality of Loulé.
